Concept

Audiovisual products born in the electronic media (analog and digital television and radio) form part of the national cultural and historical heritage and are documents of the national culture and history. Preserving them for the future and making them available for research and educational purposes are therefore as important as in the case of works of fine art, films and musical compositions. The objective of NAVA’S operation is to keep these documents available.

NAVA

Regularly and officially collects and stores the programmes broadcasted by Hungarian broadcasters
Provides them with content description data (processes them)
And makes them available for the public for educational and research purposes.

NAVA performs this task in a digital IT environment, therefore the recorded programme items

 Become digitally processed
 Are stored digitally
Accessibility is provided in an on-line, digital form.

The collection established in the course of NAVA’s operation is a public collection and constitutes state property. Unless other provisions of law are binding, the provisions for libraries’ public collections are applicable.
